Artificial Intelligence &
Internet of Things (AIoT)

It is a fusion of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of things (IoT). AIoT is revolutionary and advantageous for both types of technology since AI enhances IoT through connectivity, signaling, data sharing, data management, and analytics.

AI is the simulation of human intelligence processes by machines, especially computer systems, and is typically used in natural language processing, speech recognition, and machine vision. And IoT is a system of interrelated computing devices, mechanical and digital machines, or objects with unique identifiers and the ability to transfer data over a network without requiring human-to-human or human-computer interaction.

The combination of the two concepts (AI, IoT) focuses on using AI capabilities to process the data generated and collected by IoT systems. Therefore, machine learning models in AI systems are combined with the connectivity and data transfer capabilities of the internet of things. In other words, with the incorporation of AI in IoT systems, their functioning is not limited to collecting and transferring information but understanding and analyzing the data for an efficient and profitable business.

For example

On a shop floor with an ‘n’ number of machines, numerous data will keep flowing from the field devices (sensors), these are real-time raw data. These data are stored in a database via a gateway.

With the help of artificial intelligence, we can

• group this data and can compare the production processes taking place on the shop floor.

• This data can be used for a graphical representation of productivity, Energy consumption, downtime, etc., So, it becomes easy to spot the bottleneck in the production and can lead the production process with less effort and more transparency.

Benefits of combining AI & IoT

There are several benefits such as improved efficiency, reduced costs, boosts operational efficiency, makes real-time monitor easy, reduces operational costs, helps in risk management, and decision-making, etc., It can be used for many applications such as Traffic monitoring, Video surveillance, Manufacturing and Production, Automated Vehicles, Health care, etc., In all possibilities, the technologies are all set for further advancement soon.
